About Actos
Actos is a medicine containing Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione which is used
as a treatment for patients with type 2 diabetis. Pioglitazone works by making
the body more sensitive to Insulin, the natural substance that is used by your
body to restrain your blood sugar level. Actos may also have other uses as instructed
by your doctor.
Usage
Actos comes as a tablet that is taken orally. It should be taken according to your doctor's directions, usually once a day. Do not take a dose higher or lower than your prescribed amount. Do not stop taking Actos without consulting your doctor. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose take it and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take more than your usual dosage to make up for a missed one. Do not take it if it's expiration date has passed.
Side effects
Actos may cause the following side effects: headaches, dizziness, sweating, tremors, an increased heartbeat, weariness, paleness, confusion, a blurry vision, thirst, frequent urination, a sore throat, muscle pains, mouth pains, weight gain, swelling, breathing difficulties, a dry mouth, a dry skin and loss of appetite. If any of these symptoms should appear contact your doctor immediately!
Storage
Actos should be kept tightly closed in the container it came in. It should be kept at room's temperature. Avoid storing it near heat or light.
