About Activella
Activella is a drug containing both Estrogen and Progestin, two female hormones which are used in combination to treat certain symptoms of menopause. Estrogen's effects are the decrease of a variety of symptoms such as sweating, hotflashes, vaginal burning, itching and dryness and urinary difficulties. Progestin lowers the chances of getting uterine cancer. Activella may have other uses as instructed by your doctor.
Usage
Activella comes as a tablet that is taken orally. It should be taken according to your doctor's directions, usually once a day. Do not take a dose higher or lower than your prescribed amount. Do not stop taking Activella without consulting your doctor. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose take it and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take more than your usual dosage to make up for a missed one. Do not take it if it's expiration date has passed.
Side effects
Activella may cause the following side effects: headaches, dizziness, nausia, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, acne, swelling, an altered menstral flow and anxiety. Notify your doctor if these symptoms should persist. Other rarer side effects may include yellow skin or eyes, abdominal pain, seeing problems, rashes, weariness, depression, abnormal bleeding, fevers, and dark urine. If any of these symptoms should appear contact your doctor immediately!
Storage
Activella should be kept tightly closed in the container it came in. It should be kept at room's temperature. Avoid storing it near heat or light.
