About Actonel
Actonel is a medicine containing Risedronate, a pyridinyl bisphosphonate which
is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis (thinning of the bone). Risedronate
works by thickening the bones and making them stronger. It may also have other
uses as instructed by your doctor.
Usage
Actonel comes as a tablet that is taken orally. It should be taken according to your doctor's directions, usually once a day or once a week. Actonel should be taken in the morning on an empty stomache, 30 minutes before eating or drinking with a full glass of water. Do not take a dose higher or lower than your prescribed amount. Do not stop taking Actonel without consulting your doctor. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose take it and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take more than your usual dosage to make up for a missed one. Do not take it if it's expiration date has passed.
Side effects
Actonel may cause the following side effects: headaches, dizziness, gas, constipation, diarrhea, anxiety, muscle or joint pains and weariness. Notify your doctor if these symptoms should persist. Other rarer side effects may include abdominal pains, bloody vomit, indigestion, weight loss, fever, chest pains, difficult or painful urination and vomiting blood. If any of these symptoms should appear contact your doctor immediately!
Storage
Actonel should be kept tightly closed in the container it came in. It should be
kept at room's temperature. Avoid storing it near heat or light.
